• This alliance will strengthen the ability of both companies to innovate and grow together in the cheese market to drive sustainability in the dairy sector.
  • The current management of INNOLACT S.L. will continue to lead the company.

On July 16, CAPSA FOOD signed the purchase agreement for 40% of the capital of Innolact S.L., which until now belonged to various minority shareholders, with the other 60% remaining in the hands of its founding partners.

The acquisition will not involve any change in the management or leadership of INNOLACT, with its current General Manager, Sergio Martinez, founding partner of Quescrem, remaining at the helm. Regarding its production activity, it will not undergo any variation either, as it will continue to operate at its current facilities located in Galicia, where it also carries out its milk collection, thereby supporting Galician livestock farms.

This strategic alliance with CAPSA FOOD, a Grupo Central Lechera Asturiana company and a leader in the Spanish dairy sector, will allow Quescrem to consolidate and boost its growth plan in the various segments in which it operates: cream cheese and mascarpone, increasing its impact on the Galician dairy sector through the sourcing of Galician milk and contributing to the development of rural employment in Castro Riberas de Lea, where its factories are located. It will also strengthen its expansion with the imminent launch of a major extension of its second factory in Castro de Rei, with an investment of more than ten million euros between 2022 and 2024, as part of a global investment plan exceeding sixteen million euros. In 2023, it had a turnover of 25 million euros, consolidating continuous growth since the start of its industrial activity in 2008.

For CAPSA FOOD, the operation reinforces its commitment to growth in the cheese market. It should be noted that, at the end of 2023, the Asturian dairy company completed its 100% stake in “Lácteas Flor de Burgos S.L.” following the purchase of the initial 50% in early 2020.

Furthermore, Quescrem’s strong culture of innovation and its R&D&I structure will be an asset that will help CAPSA FOOD boost the cheese category, with both sharing their knowledge as well as the common values on which the strategies of both companies are based, such as healthy eating, innovation, excellence, and teamwork.

For José Armando Tellado, General Manager of CAPSA FOOD, “With this alliance, we are taking a step forward in our vocation to grow and lead the cheese market in Spain and abroad through innovation and talent.”

Sergio Martinez, General Manager of INNOLACT S.L., adds: “With the incorporation of CAPSA into Quescrem, we are boosting the growth of our activity, generating significant opportunities for innovation and internationalization. With this alliance, we reaffirm our commitment to improving the sustainability of the dairy sector’s value chain.”

INNOLACT, the parent company of QUESCREM, was founded in 2006 by researchers from the USC Dairy Products Workshop as a spin-off. Its origin is based on an innovative solution to add value to a co-product of butter manufacturing: buttermilk. Since then, it has grown and established itself as a benchmark in the global dairy sector, thanks to its constant commitment to innovation and sustainability.
