Grupo Central Lechera Asturiana and the Red Cross have launched “LABRANZA, CULTIVANDO EL FUTURO” (Farming, Cultivating the Future), a joint collaboration created with the aim of responding to the needs of the cooperative’s member farms, improving employability, and promoting generational renewal in the dairy sector.

This initiative is part of the Grupo Central Lechera Asturiana’s commitment to the sustainable development of rural areas, supporting a model that not only generates economic activity but also creates real opportunities for people and contributes to retaining the population in the territory.

In this regard, Ramon Garcia, Director of Member Relations and Generational Renewal for the Group, highlights that: “LABRANZA is a project of opportunities, where the needs and demands of Central Lechera Asturiana’s member farmers are met through committed and trained individuals who are introduced to dairy production and the rural environment, generating a positive impact on the territory and on the generational renewal of our farms”.

Specialized training to boost rural talent

The collaboration involves the training of between 10 and 15 people, who will receive a 40-hour theoretical-practical training program aimed at entering the dairy sector.

The theoretical training will be provided by LILA Asturias, while the practical part will take place at Grupo Central Lechera Asturiana farms, allowing participants to gain direct experience in a real work environment.

The training program is structured into five key blocks:

  • Dairy production: morphology, nutrition, housing systems, and livestock behavior
  • Animal health, hygiene, and biosecurity
  • Livestock handling
  • Animal welfare
  • Environmental management, occupational health, and regulations

Those who complete the program will receive an official accreditation issued by the training entity, thereby strengthening their professional profile.

From training to employment

“LABRANZA” is designed as a comprehensive collaboration that connects training with job placement. Participants will be able to join Central Lechera Asturiana’s member farms through its job bank and also the cooperative’s relief service teams, a consolidated model with over 25 years of history.

In this way, the project not only provides training but also facilitates real employment opportunities in the dairy sector.
